Anchorage Symphony's "Trailblazers" 2018

Anchorage Symphony’s “Trailblazers”

January 27th, 2018

Randall Craig Fleischer, conductor
featuring Rachel Barton Pine, violin

Smetana | The Moldau
Mozart | Violin Concerto No. 5
Beach | Symphony in E Minor, Op. 35 “Gaelic”

Smetana’s symphonic poem The Moldau sets the tone for this evening of musical trendsetters. The Anchorage Symphony is honored to welcome back Rachel Barton Pine a violinist heralded as the most charismatic, virtuosic, and compelling American violinist of her generation. We close the concert featuring another remarkable American musician - Amy Beach - performing the ASO premiere of her Gaelic Symphony - the first symphony, or any type of symphonic work, ever composed by an American woman and premiered by the Boston Symphony in 1896.

Anchorage Symphony’s “Trailblazers” is presented by Anchorage Symphony Orchestra.
