Anchorage Concert Chorus - Omnis Terra
The Anchorage Concert Chorus closes its season with a moving and exciting performance of two contemporary pieces that honor choral tradition in a unique way. Karl Jenkins’ "Stabat Mater" and Dan Forrest’s "Jubilate Deo" are both based on Latin religious text often used in choral music, but these composers set the text against a fresh background that incorporates instrumentation and melodies associated with many different cultures. Both compositions are infused with a 21st-century multicultural world view that includes lyrics in: Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Zulu, Latin and English. Don’t miss the Alaska premiere of two sweeping choral works that have found their place in the realm of choral classics.
