Hiland Mountain Lullaby Concert
November 16th, 2019
Hiland Lullaby Project provides an amazing opportunity for community musicians to collaborate with Hiland mothers to create a personal lullaby for their children. The concert is filled with joy and laughter. This concert is a connection between community members and those who are incarcerated through the power of music.
This year, Hiland Mountain Correctional Center Long Term Sentencing mothers will write a lullaby that expresses their dreams and hopes in spite of the fact they will never get out of prison. Witness their stories and journey through the power of a lullaby written for themselves, their families, their children and to the young mothers who are now incarcerated. What wisdom have they learned to pass on to the young mothers who are now incarcerated? It will be one of the most powerful lullabies written as a part of the Hiland Mountian Lullaby project.
Here’s a success story from last year’s Lullaby Project: Inmate Michael —
“I realized that being faithful to myself and always tell the truth&helip;it will help me instill this in my kids…it helps me to be more emotional to my kids…it made me open up and be more emotional with my kids. It brought a different level to the love we shared. Now my son opens up to me. The song opened a lot of emotion with my son who is fourteen. He actually cried. He realized that even though I was away, I still loved him. My son is feeling a lot better now. The lullaby helped me see a side of me that I did not see before…I can have emotions that don’t make me weak.”
All audience members must have their drivers license number cleared to enter.
