Join us in an intimate house concert setting for string quartets by Smetana and Schubert, and their profound reflections on life and its inevitable demise. A Schubert song—providing inspiration for the composer’s quartet—completes the program.

Northern Sounds
UAA Recital Hall

Finnish composer Olli Mustonen and Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg set the stage for a lively program with echoes of our northern climes. American composer Amy Beach shares her own northern inspiration in a one-movement string quartet, where songful Inuit melodies meet lush chromatic harmonies to form a uniquely lyrical musical landscape.
